Terms of Service
Last updated: September 7, 2026
These terms govern your use of the FixUI browser extension and this website. FixUI is free software provided by an individual developer, with no account, no subscription, and no charge. By installing or using it, you agree to what follows.
1. Acceptance
By installing, loading, or using the FixUI extension, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install the extension and do not use the site. If you are using FixUI on a device managed by an employer or institution, you confirm you have the authority to install browser extensions on it.
2. What FixUI is
FixUI is a Manifest V3 browser extension for Chrome that lets you locally modify how ordinary websites appear in your own browser: hiding elements, pinning shortcuts, applying bounded appearance adjustments, and optionally redirecting a site’s homepage to a landing page you choose. All changes are cosmetic, local to your browser profile, and reversible.
3. Licence
You are granted a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use FixUI for its intended purpose. You may not: remove or obscure attribution or licence notices; misrepresent modified builds as official; or distribute a modified build in a way that suggests it is endorsed by us. Any open-source licence published in the project repository governs the source code itself and prevails over this section where the two conflict.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use FixUI to:
- Circumvent paywalls, licensing checks, authentication, access controls, or usage limits on any website.
- Hide, obscure, or alter legally required disclosures, consent notices, safety warnings, attributions, or advertising labels in a way that misleads another person.
- Produce screenshots or recordings of a modified page presented as an authentic, unmodified representation of that website.
- Violate any website’s own terms of service, or any applicable law.
- Interfere with, overload, or disrupt any website’s normal operation.
Modifying how a page renders in your own browser for your own use is ordinarily lawful in most jurisdictions, but you remain solely responsible for how you use the tool and for compliance with the terms of the sites you visit.
5. Third-party websites
FixUI operates on websites we do not own, control, or have any relationship with. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google, Microsoft, or any website you choose to customize. Those sites may change at any time, which can cause your saved rules to stop matching. Trademarks and content on those sites belong to their respective owners.
6. No guarantee that rules keep working
FixUI’s matching engine is a heuristic scorer, not a guarantee. When a website is redesigned, a saved rule may no longer match. By design, FixUI reports such a rule as not found or needs repair rather than applying it to the wrong element. Restoring the rule via the Repair flow is your responsibility, and we make no commitment that any given rule will continue to work indefinitely.
7. Known limitations
FixUI cannot run on browser-internal or policy-protected pages (chrome://, edge://, about:, file://, devtools://, the Chrome Web Store), cannot reach into cross-origin iframes or closed Shadow DOM, does not rearrange page content, and never clicks controls on your behalf. These are documented design and platform constraints, not defects, and they are described on the homepage and in the project documentation.
8. Price and voluntary support
FixUI is free. There is no paid tier, no trial, no subscription, and no feature behind a paywall. Voluntary contributions made through Buy Me a Coffee are gifts: they purchase no product, licence, feature, priority, service level, or support obligation, and they are processed entirely by Buy Me a Coffee under its own terms. See our Refund Policy.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
FIXUI IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with any particular website, or that any saved rule will continue to match after a site changes.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the FixUI developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use FixUI. Because FixUI is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to it shall not exceed the greater of the amount you actually paid for it (which is zero) or USD 10.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you; your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the FixUI developer from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of FixUI, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights or any website’s terms.
12. Changes and availability
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue FixUI or any part of it at any time, and may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. Because we hold no user contact details, we cannot notify you individually.
13. Termination
You may stop using FixUI at any time by pausing it, revoking site access, or uninstalling the extension. Sections 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 14 survive termination.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts of India shall have jurisdiction — except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings locally, which it may.
15. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy, and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and the FixUI developer regarding FixUI.
